Helping your community!

We too often hear that one person cannot make a difference. This is not true! One person can create an idea that turns into a dream that changes the lives of hundreds or even thousands.

So how can you help your community?

  1. Beautification Projects- Look for small areas in your community that you can help to clean up in a short period. For larger groups you can tackle larger projects. Think going from a small flower bed area to a whole vacant lot. Offer to help a neighbor that needs their lawn mowed. After a storm get out and help pick up tree limbs. Plant a tree or maybe some nice flowers. Nursing homes are often a great place to reach out to. You can plant flowers with the residents and make people happy at the same time that you are beautifying an area.

  2. Create a clothing drive. Collect gently used clothing that can be donated to a local clothing closet. Keep in mind items that are seasonal should be collected in advance- coats for cold weather, etc.

  3. Donate items to a local animal shelter. Used blankets, animal toys, and treats are a great idea. What about offering to walk a dog or take pictures for an upcoming animal adoption event?

There are so many more areas that can make a huge impact but it does start with one person. Good luck, remember sharing a smile is free and even that little act helps!
