Partnering with others

Seymour Helping Hands has a goal to partner with other groups both local and outside of Seymour. Over the last year SHH has partnered with Seymour Community Theatre to bring create fun events, including a Senior Social day out to the theatre. We have also partnered with P.A.W.S. to help give them a place to meet to work toward their goal of helping animals in Baylor County and in their starting of a catch and release program to help bring down the feral cat over population in Seymour.

Throughout 2024 SHH has also partnered with other non-profits to give items that may be of use to those that these non-profits help. One such group that is assisted is Base Camp Lindsey.

Base Camp Lindsey is a Non-profit based out of Wichita Falls, Texas that has a main goal of assisting Veteran's. Envision a community where no veteran has to sleep on the streets, or worry about their next meal. That is their goal and a noble one at that.

Staff such as Chris De La Garza work diligently to assist homeless Veteran's to achieve the goal of having a home of their own. Once the Veteran is able to acquire housing they also work to ensure that they have items that they need. This is where SHH comes in. By offering items such as basic kitchen utensils, pots and pans, or even bedding that we have an abundance of we are able to partner with BCL to help these Veteran's achieve comfort in their new place. We help to turn the four walls into a home.

Base Camp Lindsey is also working to renovate a previous nursing home that was empty into a beautiful home for Veteran's. The goal is to make the old reusable to give homes to those that may be on the streets. No one who has served their country should be sleeping on the side of a highway.

In January 2024 the national snapshot of Veteran homelessness showed that: The total number of Veterans who experienced homelessness was 35,574 – an increase of 7.4% over January 2022. BCL is working to help lower that number.

Seymour Helping Hands wants to thank these wonderful groups for allowing us to partner with them and we look forward to continuing to do so in the future.
