One person’s trash is another one’s treasure! Seymour Helping Hands believes in helping not only the community, but also strives to help the environment. Many times items that others no longer want to use end up in landfills when it could be repurposed or reused by someone else.
SHH has developed a program called New2U. This program accepts donated items that are in new or gently used condition. They are then offered to those that could utilize the item. Often the items go to families that could not afford to purchase these items for themselves. It becomes a win/win for all.
SHH never asks for payment or requests justification on show of need. The idea is that the items were given for the purpose of passing on. It is not our place in this world to judge who is in need, but our place to assist those that ask. At times those assisted may offer to make a donation, but it is never asked for. If a donation is made, then the money is used to help continue in working toward assisting the community.
If you would like to donate items, please keep in mind that the Community Center accepts donations on Saturdays between the hours of 10a-2p. As a 501c3 we can and will provide a tax receipt upon request.
For those wishing to receive items you are welcome to contact us with immediate need or come into our Community Center and view items available. There is a short documentation form that must be completed by anyone receiving items. This documentation allows us to ensure that we are able to track items sent out of our doors and to better convey the impact that we have in our community to those that ask.
